Old Stock Movie

We are excited to announce that three of our songs will be featured in the movie “Old Stock”. Look for “I Hurt” by Clarence Nelson, “Fool’s Paradise” by Bobby Wood, and “The Day After Forever by Bobby Wood.

OLD STOCK is the story of 19 year-old STOCK BURTON (Noah Reid), who became a legend after he was involved in a car accident his small town has never forgotten. Unable to deal with the consequences of the crash, Stock chose to retire, by dropping out of life and joining his recently separated Grandfather, HAROLD (Danny Wells), at the Golden Seasons senior’s home. After two years of crokinole playing, pipe smoking and blissful denial of his problems, Stock is forced to return to reality. Outside the safety of Golden Seasons, Stock’s past quickly catches up with him and he must finally face DAHLIA (Meghan Heffern, “Blue Mountain State”), the person who suffered most of all. With the help of PATTI (Melanie Leishman), a cute girl with a quick temper and a criminal record, Stock learns to look life in the eye, accept its imperfections and re-open his heart for a chance to move on.

Andrew Love – The Memphis Horns

Simply Grand Music, Inc. and Linda Lucchesi send their condolences to the family of Andrew Love of the Memphis Horns. As half of the great duo that is the Memphis Horns, Love recorded on countless hits that came from Memphis. Andrew Love and Wayne Jackson recorded at the Sounds of Memphis Studio numerous times from the late 60’s through the 70’s. They backed recording artists such as The Ovations, Barbara & the Browns, James Carr, Tony Joe White, The Smoke Ring, Lou Roberts and many more.

They also recorded their self-titled LP at the Sounds of Memphis studio in 1970. The songs “Soul Bowl”, “One Mile High”, “Sanitation Man”, and “Time” from the album are all co-published by Simply Grand Music, Inc. In 1972, they released “Horns for Everything” that featured the song “Candy People”, also co-published by Simply Grand Music, Inc. Andrew Love and Wayne Jackson helped to define that unique Memphis sound. He can be proud of the legacy that he has left behind. A true Memphis legend, he will be missed.

Hit Soul Singer- Etta James dies at 73

Etta James, the legendary Blues and R&B singer died Friday, January 20 at the age of 73. Ms. Jones has been called the master of jazz, blues, R&B, and rock and roll, as well as music’s original bad girl. The singers voice could be raspy inspired by her struggles and pain, yet quickly transformed into one comparable to silk at the flip of a coin. “Most of the songs I sing, they have that blue feeling to it. They have that sorry feeling. And I don’t know what I’m sorry about,”. “I don’t!” is what Ms. James told CNN’s reporter Denise Quan in an interview done in 2002. The music industry has truly suffered a loss with the passing of one of our greatest singers. Take a moment to check out Etta’s hit song- “It Hurts Me So Much” that the singer recorded while with Muscle Shoals and from Simply Grand Music, inc. catalog. Etta, although physically gone from this earth leaves us with a voice that will be heard through the ages.
